How to Connect Your Hikvision DVR to a Computer Using iVMS-4200 (Remote Access Guide)

🖥️ Step 1: Launch iVMS-4200 and Log In

Start by opening the iVMS-4200 software on your computer.
Use the username and password you created during installation to log in.

Once you’re in, you’ll see several options on the main screen — but for now, head over to Device Management.

⚙️ Step 2: Add Your DVR Using Hik-Connect

Normally, the software detects local devices only. That means you can’t access your cameras once your laptop disconnects from your local network.

To enable remote viewing, follow these steps:

1. Click “Not Logged In” and confirm by selecting “Yes.”

2. Log in with your Hik-Connect account credentials (the same one used in your Hik-Connect mobile app).

3. Make sure your DVR is already added to your Hik-Connect account.

Once logged in, your Hikvision device list should appear, showing your DVR’s online status.

📹 Step 3: View Your Cameras Remotely

After confirming that your device is online, go back to the Control Panel and click on “Main View.”
From there, you can drag and drop your desired camera into the viewing area to see the live feed.

If you’re prompted for a Stream Key, enter the Verification Code (found under the Platform Access menu of your Hikvision DVR settings).
